Safe, confidential shelter remains the necessary last resort for survivors of domestic violence in grave danger. The shelter location is kept confidential to ensure the safety of residents as well as staff. The shelter is set up and ran by women . They offer counseling and support for women by women. As a rule men are not allowed access to shelter.

A women’s refuge provides safe accommodation in which women and their children who have been subjected to domestic violence can live without fear of being abused. The shelter is a regular house with all the amenities with special attention given to children and their needs. The average length of stay for beneficiaries is about 2 months.

A women’s refuge offers special services and safety precautions. The guiding principle of working with abused women is a strong commitment to advocate women’s rights and the empowerment of women to live an independent and dignified life.
